Make an Impact

Volunteering is a great way to meet other Deer Run Elementary families and contribute to the enrichment of our students and the community. 

Don’t have much time to spare? Here are some volunteer opportunities with 1–2 1/2 hour shifts.

Appreciation/Sunshine: The Sunshine Committee is an easy way to get involved at Deer Run if you have limited time. We are currently looking for help for Fall conferences, October 17 and 18. If you’d like to help, please click here to sign-up.  

Country Fair: This is the school’s annual carnival to be held on the evening of Friday, April 20. Volunteers are needed to set up, run games and activities, and clean up on the evening of the event. Volunteers are also needed to help sell raffle tickets in the cafeteria at lunch during the week of the Country Fair. Sign up here

Label Drives: Help count labels for the Box Tops for Education and Tyson Project A+ programs during October and May. This can be done any time from your own home. Sign up here

Teacher Raffle: Volunteers are needed to help sell raffle tickets in the cafeteria at lunch from Monday – Thursday, January 22–25. Sign up here

Ladies and Lattes: Assist with Ladies and Lattes on Thursday and Friday, March 1 and 2. This event takes place in the gym an hour before school. Sign up here

SuperGames: Help run games during our end of year field day. This event takes place on Thursday, May 24. Morning and afternoon shifts are available. Sign up here

Have a few more hours to give? Great! Here are a few volunteer opportunities you might find suitable for your schedule – around 5-10 hours.

Innovation Grants and Scholarships: Help review teacher grant requests for programs, projects and materials that benefit our students. This review takes place in November. Also help select a recipient for the DRE Alumni Scholarship during May. Sign up here

Are you good at organizing and planning? We are looking for Coordinators for the following events. Training and instruction manuals will be provided. If you are interested, please contact Tricia Shinnick here.

Teacher Raffle: The Teacher Raffle takes place from January 22–25. A coordinator is needed to attend the teacher staff meeting in November to discuss event, create a Google form of Time with Teacher experiences for staff in December, create a sign-up for volunteers, and sell raffle tickets in January.

Country Fair: This is the school’s annual carnival to be held on Friday, April 20. The planning takes place mostly during March and April. Coordinators are needed to oversee the key components of the Country Fair – food trucks, raffle, prizes, and games.
